Seasons in the past Diablo games such as Diablo 3 are an optional and recurring game mode that allows players to start from scratch and experience the game with unique and engaging seasonal effects. This feature has since been removed from the upcoming Diablo Immortal release.

What is Seasons Mode in Diablo?

Seasons in Diablo Games

Previously, seasons in Diablo 3 would allow a new game feel after each season where players can start over and experience collecting equipment from the beginning and level up as a new player. This allowed players to relive the initial stages of the game and added an aspect to the game's replayability. New seasons would begin every few months.

This mode was optional, and was made for players so that a new account was not needed for a fresh start to the game. At the end of each season, players can keep everything they've gathered from the season. Players have chosen to participate in new seasons to gain additional awards and attempt to secure a spot on the leadersboards.

Seasons in Diablo Immortal

Diablo Immortal will not include this mechanic. This is so that players did not feel the need to reset, and instead wanted the game progress to continue to build as it was updated. Blizzard has revealed that Diablo Immortal won't have the Seasons game mode and that the game will instead focus on single-player's character progression and development.

This may be cause of the new way this game will function, expecting regular releases, in-game purchases and updates.
